Caesarea, Israel is a picturesque, cozy seaside city that runs along the Mediterranean coastline with a population of approximately 5,500. This wonderful city is located midway between Tel Aviv and Haifa. The ancient city of Caesarea Maritima was originally built and used as a port for incoming and outgoing goods by Herod the Great, dating all the way back to 25-13 BCE. This city also acted as the capital of Judea during the time of Jesus.
Uncovered and dug-up by excavating archaeologists in the 1950’s, they discovered an intact Roman amphitheater, hippodrome, a Roman temple, city walls, a castle, and a Crusader church which in 1952, lead to the inception of the now modern city of Caesarea. with all of the ancient history left intact and incorporated into the new Caesarea National Park. This park is home to marvelous archaeological sites and wildlife of all different kinds.
The residential neighborhoods have two shopping plazas with supermarkets, small businesses, medical offices, banks, and restaurants/cafes of all sorts. In addition to notable residents such as Benjamin Netanyahu (Prime Minister of Israel), former President Wiseman, Noga Erez (singer), Dan Shilon (television host) and many more. The Ralli Museum in Caesarea calls home to a large collection of South American art as well as many originals from the legendary Salvador Dalí.
